Self-Employed Tax Hub

Understand your self-employment taxes. Make your own decisions. Take control of your future.

SE tax, quarterly payments, QBI deduction, and retirement account maximums — all in one place.

Pick a self-employed tool

Five calculators for freelancers, consultants, and small-business owners — taxes, deductions, retirement, valuation, and cash flow.

Educational only — not tax advice. Figures use 2025 IRS limits and standard rates; the business valuation is a rough estimate, not a formal appraisal. Consult a CPA, tax professional, or qualified appraiser for your situation. Privacy-first: all calculations run in your browser — your inputs are saved privately (on this device, or to your account when signed in) so you can pick up where you left off.
How this is calculated

We estimate your self-employment tax and the retirement accounts (SEP-IRA, Solo 401(k)) that shelter the most income.

The steps

  1. Net self-employment income × 92.35% gives the base for SE tax.
  2. SE tax = 15.3% (Social Security + Medicare) on that base, with half deductible against income tax.
  3. Compare contribution capacity across SEP-IRA and Solo 401(k) at your income.

Assumptions

  • 2025 SE-tax rates and the Social Security wage base.

Good to know

  • Doesn’t model the full QBI deduction or state specifics.
